Abstract

Place is an essential part of the narrative and is the ground on which events take place. Place cannot exist without time, as they are linked together in one fabric. The place appears in the novel The Discovery of Love in a variety of forms, including: the first place, the second place, the imaginary place, the real place, and the witness place, as well as the physical place and the other place.

The research was divided into two parts and a conclusion. The first section dealt with: a theoretical introduction to place, dealing with the definition of place in language, terminology, and philosophy. The second section dealt with the analysis of narrative texts in the novel The Discovery of Love by the novelist Marwan Yassin Al-Dulaimi, which relates to place.
