The Phenomenon of Antagonism in Syriac Language

Abstract

The research entitled “Antagonism in the Syriac Language” aims to present the most important details of the phenomenon of opposition in the Syriac language. This research dealt with an introduction to antithesis in general, then it was followed by a discussion of this phenomenon in language and terminology in the Syriac and Arabic languages, and included the opinions of scholars and linguists about it. Some of them denied it and some of them proved its existence, explaining the reasons for the antithesis. Some of them even went on to explain its types. He also used Arabic sources to establish this phenomenon in the Syriac language, since it lacks such semantic positions. This research has clarified the most important divisions of antithesis, applying various evidence from the Bible to explain these divisions and clarify their function.
